Paul Gebheim
Product Architect & Engineering Leader — distributed systems, crypto infrastructure, applied AI
Summary
Hi, I’m Paul. I’ve spent the better part of 20 years building software that gets stuff done, makes things go, shows you what’s up, or keeps people connected — from real-time analytics at Justin.tv (before it became Twitch), to the first prediction market on Ethereum, to ZK at Polygon.
So I like software, but I love changing lives — whether that’s a beer social network (built one), a pay-it-forward fundraiser for charity: water (built that too), or a live-video app millions of people used (yep, that too). These days I run incubations at Sei Labs, where I’ve helped found two ventures and shipped an agent platform that runs whole companies.
Experience
- Lead Sei’s incubations arm; helped found and launch multiple enterprises:
- AI Infrastructure
- Neuromorphic Labs — founding team; raised $5M from Flying Fish Ventures.
- EICO — acoco.ai — founding engineer & team lead; architected and built the full multi-tenant, company-running agent loop platform; delivered V1.
- Trading Applications
- Rolled out the Type-1 zkEVM prover — full Ethereum-equivalence proofs for real mainnet blocks at $0.002–0.003/tx (~36x cheaper than competing provers), covered by CoinDesk and Blockworks.
- Architecture and design for AggLayer and Polygon blockchain infrastructure; architecture lead for Katana Blockchain (spun off from Polygon).
- Co-authored PIP-18 (Polygon 2.0 Phase 0 — Frontier) and PIP-42 (upgrade PoS staking to POL).
- Led the Flow blockchain governance team; authored FLIP-1057: Automated Slot Assignment (implemented) and edited FLIP-GOV-1: Maintain Staking Rewards.
- Published the Flow Access Architecture Specification and led milestone delivery for permissionless contract deployment and segmented transaction fees (FLIP-660).
- Led backend engineering for Augur V1 — the first prediction market platform live on Ethereum.
- Owned the full end-to-end architecture for Augur V2.
- Shipped tow-truck dispatch software; integrated the platform with a third-party data provider, opening job flow from insurance companies and motor clubs.
- Owned research, architecture, and testing for the Rails backend; supported live customer issues.
- Built Beerhunt — iOS beer social network (“Foursquare for beer”), launched at DEMO Mobile 2013.
- Built Blab — 1-to-many group live-video social network.
- Built Water Forward — viral pay-it-forward fundraising engine for charity: water.
- Maintained and replaced legacy statistics system; implemented a log analytics framework on Hadoop Map/Reduce.
- Created a real-time discrete event tracking system on MongoDB — presented at MongoSF.
- Built Beancounter, a web front-end for visualizing time-series statistics, plus JavaScript libraries for user tracking and log generation.
- Implemented an iPhone push notification provider system.
- Built core components of the Complex Event Processing engine in C++: high-speed data bus, pub/sub queuing, reliable persistent transport.
- Designed and implemented SOAP/HTTP RPC layers, remote-database caching, and ACL-based client/server security.
- Designed persistent data structures on a SQLite-based persistence engine; helped build the high-speed query execution engine.
- Gave lectures on Coral8 internals to partners.
- Supported public and private network access for hotel guests and UW staff.
- Designed and optimized a marketing data warehouse; built ASP.NET front-ends and automated data synchronization from external stores.
- Maintained VB/database financial applications and custom ASP/ASP.NET apps for student data and course enrollment.
Current Projects
- liluser — Agentic-user testing: AI agents that use your product like a real user, surfacing UX issues before humans hit them.
- lilbox — Instant, isolated Linux boxes: Rust CLI for booting hypervisor-isolated libkrun microVMs (~1–2s boot) on your own hardware, with tailnet/HTTPS publishing in one command — built for safely running untrusted and AI-generated code.
- Copy-in kit of config-driven agent skills, agents, and CI templates — native to Claude Code, adaptable to any AGENTS.md-reading agent.
